Interactive product browsing and configuration using remote augmented reality sales services
Real-time remote sales assistance is an underdeveloped component of online sales services. Solutions involving web page text chat, telephony and video support prove problematic when seeking to remotely guide customers in their sales processes, especially with configurations of physically complex artefacts. Recently, there has been great interest in the application of virtual worlds and augmented reality to create synthetic environments for remote sales of physical artefacts. However, there is a lack of analysis and development of appropriate software services to support these processes. We extend our previous work with the detailed design of configuration context services to support the management of an interactive sales session using augmented reality. We detail the context and configuration services required, presenting a novel data service streaming configuration information to the vendor for business analytics. We expect that a fully implemented configuration management service, based on our design, will improve the remote sales experience for both customers and vendors alike via analysis of the streamed information
Toward Self-Organising Service Communities
This paper discusses a framework in which catalog service communities are built, linked for interaction, and constantly monitored and adapted over time. A catalog service community (represented as a peer node in a peer-to-peer network) in our system can be viewed as domain specific data integration mediators representing the domain knowledge and the registry information. The query routing among communities is performed to identify a set of data sources that are relevant to answering a given query. The system monitors the interactions between the communities to discover patterns that may lead to restructuring of the network (e.g., irrelevant peers removed, new relationships created, etc.)
Decentralised Governance for Foundation Model based AI Systems: Exploring the Role of Blockchain in Responsible AI
Foundation models including large language models (LLMs) are increasingly
attracting interest worldwide for their distinguished capabilities and
potential to perform a wide variety of tasks. Nevertheless, people are
concerned about whether foundation model based AI systems are properly governed
to ensure trustworthiness of foundation model based AI systems and to prevent
misuse that could harm humans, society and the environment. In this paper, we
identify eight governance challenges of foundation model based AI systems
regarding the three fundamental dimensions of governance: decision rights,
incentives, and accountability. Furthermore, we explore the potential of
blockchain as a solution to address the challenges by providing a distributed
ledger to facilitate decentralised governance. We present an architecture that
demonstrates how blockchain can be leveraged to realise governance in
foundation model based AI systems
A Pattern Language for Blockchain Governance
Blockchain technology has been used to build next-generation applications
taking advantage of its decentralised nature. Nevertheless, there are some
serious concerns about the trustworthiness of blockchain due to the
vulnerabilities in on-chain algorithmic mechanisms, and tedious disputes and
debates in off-chain communities. Accordingly, blockchain governance has
received great attention for improving the trustworthiness of all decisions
that direct a blockchain platform. However, there is a lack of systematic
knowledge to guide practitioners to perform blockchain governance. We have
performed a systematic literature review to understand the state-of-the-art of
blockchain governance. We identify the lifecycle stages of a blockchain
platform, and present 14 architectural patterns for blockchain governance in
this study. This pattern language can provide guidance for the effective use of
patterns for blockchain governance in practice, and support the architecture
design of governance-driven blockchain systems
